Objectives of the Brockville ME Association are to:

  • provide support for those affected by debilitating diseases, illnesses and conditions (specifically: Myalgic Encephalomyelitis [Chronic Fatigue Syndrome], Fibromyalgia, Multiple Chemical Sensitivities), by offering education and counseling, and by establishing mutual support groups.
  • provide life management counseling and other support services to assist persons with these disabilities to become more independent in the community.
  • provide support and encouragement to persons with these disabilities by offering programs in individual development and integration into the community.
  • provide relief to persons with disabilities by developing and implementing recreation, education and social integration programs for the disabled.
  • educate the public on these debilitating conditions and the needs of persons with disabilities by providing seminars and by collecting and disseminating information on the topic.

The Brockville ME Association initiated the pool-therapy program "Keep Moving-Keep Mobile."

We provide support, speakers, a monthly newsletter, and maintain an extensive library, which includes books, videos, and tapes.

These resources cover a wide range of topics such as:

  • definitions of the conditions
  • various forms of exercise
  • treatment and medication options
  • maintenance of mental health when dealing with illness
  • meditation
  • chronic pain
  • diet and illness oriented cookbooks
  • financial management
  • seminars held on a number of subjects related to the illnesses.

We also maintain a resource directory of helpful professionals.
