Library NEWS update:

The library catalog is now online.

In The Library

The library has just received the Fall 2009 issue of “Reaching Out”, the newsletter of the Myalgic En-
cephalomyelitis Association of Ontario.
The lead article, Spotlight on Education:Students with ME/CFS in the Ontario Public School System by
Maureen MacQuarrie, will be of particular interest to one of our newest members as well as to those of us who are
teachers on disabilty.
In August the MEAO sent , with the endorsement of the National ME/FM ACTION Network, a package of spe-
cific recommendations to the Honourable Kathleen Wynne, Ontario’s Minister of Education.
As well, the combined efforts of the MEAO and the National ME/FM Action Network has resulted in the creation
of a presentation for school boards across the province entitled “Understanding and Accomodating Students with
Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) and Fibromyalgia Syndrome(FMS)”.
The entire presentation has been posted on the MEAO website in English and French.

Please see: http://www.meao-cfs.on.ca/school.html.
ASK THE LAWYER-HUGH SCHER addresses legal issues that affect many people with ME.
In this issue topics such as LTD, benefits, surveillance and common mistakes made when people are dealing with
their insurance providers are discussed.
Maureen MacQuarrie’s article, With Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, My Life is a Glass Box which was
originally printed in the Globe and Mail of June 24, 2009, is reprinted here with the permission of the author. This
article presents a clear picture of life with ME/CFS and is well worth reading as is the whole newsletter.
